In this role, you'll work closely with a skilled team of developers and testers to ensure the reliability and performance of our backend systems. These systems handle the configuration and management of smart devices connected to our central alarm units—adding, replacing, updating, and deleting devices in a secure and seamless way.
 

What You'll Do
* Take the lead in assuring quality across our Java-based backend systems
* Design and execute both manual and automated tests, with a strong focus on API testing and integration validation
* Develop test strategies and implement robust automated test frameworks
* Contribute to our CI/CD processes with deployment, debugging, and monitoring
* Collaborate with senior engineers to evolve our test automation landscape and ensure our services are scalable and high-performing

The role

About the role                                                                                    

As a Field Quality Assurance Engineer at Verisure, you will be responsible for driving and monitoring the performance of our products in field. This means that you need to be able to read and analyze data, understand and define KPI's, and are able to be hands on when it comes to investigating on issues. This includes hands on lab testing of the products (hardware & firmware), gather and analyze data, discuss metrics, include teams in solving issues and follow up until they are solved, and manage a controlled roll-out.  

This is a possibility to define, develop, execute and document a wide range of repeatable tests, to assure premium functionality and performance of our products. This includes benchmarking and calibrating new product performance against previous versions.

To avoid unclarities around the definition of Quality Assurance: at Verisure this is not a software testing role. Software testing is part of the delivery cycle, while Quality Assurance is a governance process to ensure overall quality, compliance to (external and internal) requirements, optimization of processes and more. This role includes:
* Troubleshooting issues and proposing solutions for the development teams and presenting findings and proposed solutions
* Supporting to analyze quality metrics / data
* Testing and validating of new HW and FW
* Follow up installation quality metrics with our stakeholders
* Travelling to stakeholders in northern Europe for onsite quality checks and education

Location: Malmö, partly remote working is discussable but at least 3 days per week in the office.

Who are you?

The North Alarm & Business Logic Team is responsible for the Verisure alarm application, dealing with radio application for each device, communication and connectivity management of the gateway with the backend, including the proprietary security radio protocol. As an Embedded Software Engineer, your main responsibility will be within the alarm business logic area, and you will both develop as well as maintain alarm software solutions on past, current, and future gateway hardware, as well as the tools needed.

Required Qualifications 
* 7 years or more of experience in software development (coding, designing).               
* Several years of experience with C and C++ programming language and Linux systems.
* Experience in working with embedded systems and connectivity.
* Experience in working with protocol stacks.
* Experience in working with complex systems requiring legacy management and compatibility challenges.
* Experience with software configuration management systems like Git, Bitbucket and incident tracking tools like Jira and toolchains like Yocto is considered a plus.
* Full proficiency in English, both written and oral
